Islamic Minister meets with experts team from Serunai Commerce

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali, has held a meeting with a team of experts from Serunai Commerce, a Malaysian-based organization. The purpose of the meeting was to facilitate the exchange of information, conduct awareness workshops, and provide technical assistance in preparations for Halal certification services in the Maldives.

During the meeting, Minister Zahir expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Serunai Commerce team and acknowledged the importance of being well-informed about products from other countries that possess Halal certification. As the Maldives heavily relies on imports, it is crucial to ensure that imported goods comply with Halal standards, as the country is predominantly Islamic.

Serunai Commerce, dedicated to promoting the halal industry through its digital halal assurance system, has been actively engaging with relevant institutions in the Maldives. The team has shared essential information and expressed interest in future collaborations. Notably, the efforts of Serunai Commerce are supported by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

By collaborating with Serunai Commerce, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs aims to strengthen the Halal certification process in the Maldives, ensuring that the country maintains its Islamic principles and adheres to international standards in the import and export of halal-certified goods.
