Gov’t to commence more housing projects for MNDF

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that the administration will commence more housing projects for military officers. He made the remark at the ceremony to mark the 131st anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said that the administration is making efforts to increase the welfare of MNDF officers, including commencing housing projects for military officers in Male’ City and Hulhumale’ Phase II. He also noted that the development of the Sifainge Cooperative (SIFCO) flats will be completed soon after it had been stalled for years.

Additionally, President Solih said the administration will open a tender for the development of a 480-person and 100-person accommodation block in Male’ City this year. He also said that the development of a 138-unit building in Hulhumale’ Phase II will begin this year.

Furthermore, President Solih detailed the administration’s plans to improve the wage structure of the MNDF. He said that the salaries and allowances of officers will see positive changes once the administration's efforts to harmonise pay are completed, adding that the National Pay Commission is currently conducting the necessary survey. He added that these efforts are related to the development of the operational capability of the MNDF.
