First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the closing ceremony of the Burunu Shikaara Bodyboarding Challenge 2023. The event was held at the Raalhugandu surf break in Male' City.
First Lady Fazna attended the final heats of the three categories of the tournament: junior division, men's open division, and drop knee division before the closing ceremony began. She also presented trophies to the winners, runners-up, and third-place finishers in the junior division category.
During the ceremony, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the late Ibrahim Ahmed Shukoor, a former board member of the Surfing Association of the Maldives. He was a prominent surfer who had extensively served the surfing and bodyboarding sports.
The Burunu Shikaaru Bodyboarding Challenge 2023 was held from June 18-20. The tournament was the inaugural event of the National Bodyboarding League 2023 and the fifth edition of the competition overall. As such, a total of 25 athletes competed in the three categories of the tournament.
