Gov't urges more women to become role models

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated that more women should strive to become role models to empower girls. She made the remark at a ceremony held to mark the two-year anniversary of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Male’ City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aishath commended the hard work and achievements made by the recipients of the awards, describing them as brave and courageous. She expressed hope that more women will follow their example.

Additionally, Minister Aishath emphasised the significance of preserving the freedom for girls to pursue education, recognising that the freedoms and rights they enjoy today may not always be guaranteed. As such, she stressed the importance of having more women serving as role models to empower young girls and female students.

At the ceremony, the WDC presented awards to 13 women to recognise their valuable work and achievements. In addition, four members of the committee who showed the best overall performance from May 2022 to May 2023 were presented with special awards.
