Batik Air Malaysia launches direct flights to Maldives

Batik Air Malaysia has begun direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to the Maldives.

The first direct flight from Batik Air arrived at Velana International Airport (VIA) with 120 passengers on board and was greeted with a ceremonial water salute. The flights will provide additional convenience to passengers from Southeast Asia. Batik Air will operate direct flights to the Maldives three days a week by utilising a 180-passenger Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

Batik Airlines operates flights to more than 50 destinations worldwide. Direct flights to the Maldives are expected to increase the number of tourists arriving in the Maldives from Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia. The airline, which previously operated under the name of MalindoAir, has switched to Batik Air and has launched a number of special promotions to fly to more destinations.
