Minister of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated that the list of flat recipients under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme will be announced soon. He made the statement during a press conference held to announce the list of land plot recipients under the Binveriyaa scheme.
During the press conference, Minister Aslam said that the project to develop 4,000 housing units in Hulhumale’ Phase II under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme is progressing quickly. He assured that most of the housing units will be livable by the end of the current term, adding that the list of recipients is close to being finalised and will be announced soon. The government received over 20,000 applications for the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme.
In September 2021, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited (FDC) signed the loan agreements for the construction of 4,000 new housing units with two Indian companies. As such, 2,000 housing units are being developed by NBCC India Limited, and another 2,000 housing units are being developed by JMC Projects (India) Limited. A total of 32 towers that are 17-18 storeys high are being developed as part of the project.
FDC has stated that 13 of the towers, which consist of 1,600 housing units, will be completed by August this year while the whole project is expected to be completed by August 2024. The apartments will consist of two-bedroom and three-bedroom units. The two-bedroom units will have an area of 650sqft, while the three-bedroom units will have 900sqft.
