Eid celebrations are a time for reconciliation: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that Eid celebrations are a time for reconciliation and goodwill. He made the remark in a statement on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

In his message, President Solih extended greetings and felicitations to all Muslim pilgrims and to the members of the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. He encouraged everyone to rekindle family bonds by embracing parents with respect and presenting gifts to their spouses and children with love and recommended visiting relatives and friends and exchanging Eid wishes to promote societal peace and harmony.

Additionally, President Solih stressed the importance of taking the initiative to help the less fortunate. He said that citizens must mark every occasion such as Eid by working together to remember the poor and needy. He also advised each individual to take the initiative and help someone in need in their own family.

Furthermore, President Solih said that the Hajj pilgrimage associated with Eid al-Adha symbolises the close relationship between people and the importance of helping and cooperating with each other and spreading goodness. He said the most important lesson of Hajj is the equality of all human beings and the value of human dignity, adding that Muslims should learn these noble lessons on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Moreover, President Solih concluded his message by calling on citizens to avoid anger and violence and seek solace in life through compassionate relationships. He also urged people to let go of jealousy or animosity on this occasion and to forgive and be kind to each other, to promote brotherhood, and to find the satisfaction of living together with friendship and compassion. He said that Eid al-Adha is an excellent opportunity to resolve not to harbor jealousy and enmity in their hearts, no matter how small.

President Solih attended Eid al-Adha prayers at the Islamic Centre and exchanged Eid greetings with members of the public following the prayers.
