Maldives and India discuss strengthening digital health

The governments of the Maldives and India have held discussions to strengthen digital health initiatives in the Maldives. The discussion was held during the second joint working group meeting under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Maldives and India in the field of Health.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Aishath Samiya represented the Maldives at the working group meeting along with Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Lav Agarwal, who represented India. The meeting was also attended by officials from the health ministries of the two governments, the Embassy of India, Aasandha Company Limited, and the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA).

During the meeting, the officials discussed providing technical assistance in promoting public heal and developing human resources in the Maldives. They also discussed medical value travel, strengthening digital health in the Maldives and collaborating on drug testing and regulating pharmaceuticals with the Quality Council of India.

During the meeting, Permanent Secretary Samiya thanked the government of India for providing assistance for the development of the health sector in the Maldives. The meeting concluded with both governments agreeing to commence further projects to develop healthcare.
