President inaugurates development projects in Foakiadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated development projects in Foakaidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.

During his visit to Foakaidhoo, President Solih inaugurated several development projects that were carried out as part of his presidential pledges. The projects included the development of the water and sewerage network, the upgrading of the harbour, the expansion of the football grounds, and the extension of the healthcare centre building.

Three ceremonies were held in Foakaidhoo to mark the completion of the projects, including the harbour which was upgraded by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The state-owned company repaired and upgraded the existing harbour at a price of USD4.2 million to ensure the safe passage of vessels entering and exiting the harbour. The scope of the project included extending the harbour to 464m.

Additionally, the administration completed the healthcare centre expansion project, and President Solih marked the completion of a solar panel installation project under the ongoing solar photovoltaic (PV) system project. In addition, the water and sewerage networks are now operational, solving the issues faced by residents due to the pollution of the island’s water table.

President Solih's administration has made significant progress in ensuring equitable development across all inhabited islands in the country. This includes improving the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live dignified lives.
