Labour Relations Authority services established in Haa Alifu Atoll

The Labour Relations Authority (LRA) has established a new unit in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, expanding its services to the region. The unit was inaugurated at the Haa Alifu Atoll Council administrative building by the President of the Council, Moosa Shafeeq. This marks the fourth unit established by the LRA in the atolls.

The LRA was created under the Labour Act with the purpose of defining basic employment norms in the country and safeguarding the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees.

The Haa Alifu Atoll Council expects the newly established LRA unit to handle local cases of job-related disputes. This will provide residents with the convenience of resolving their cases within the atoll, rather than having to submit them to the main LRA office in Male' City. The unit will review all relevant complaints submitted by residents of the atoll and work towards expediting the investigation and resolution process for different cases.

The LRA emphasized that the number of employment-related complaints has been increasing each year. Establishing branches in the atolls is seen as an important step in providing services to citizens and investigating complaints in a decentralised manner. In addition to the new unit in Haa Alifu Atoll, LRA units have also been established in Baa Atoll, Raa Atoll, and Shaviyani Atoll.
