Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital has announced its plans to introduce pediatric services in three islands within Raa Atoll. The initiative will expand the availability of pediatric care in the atoll, raising the number of facilities offering these services to five. The islands of Hulhudhuffaaru, Meedhoo, and Maduvvaree will now have access to pediatric services, in addition to Dhuvaafaru and Alifushi where the service has already been launched.
Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital is dedicated to upgrading its services to tertiary level and has been introducing various new healthcare provisions. A specialized clinic for mental illnesses has been established and will commence operations following thorough inspections. Additionally, the hospital is preparing to offer infertility treatment services.
Enhancing healthcare facilities in the atolls is a top priority for the administration. This initiative aims to reduce the dependency on the Greater Male' Region and enable residents of the atolls to receive medical treatments and healthcare services closer to their residential islands.
