Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to complete infrastructure development projects in five islands.
MTCC has been contracted to pave asphalt under the second phase of the Fuvahmulah City road development project, reclaim land in Mahibadhoo in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, Maaenboodhoo in Dhaalu Atoll, and Maavah in Laamu Atoll, as well as build shore protection structures in Ukulhas, Alifu Alifu Atoll.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure hired MTCC to complete the Fuvahmulah City road development project under a design and build policy. The state-owned company is required to pave asphalt on 12km of road, establish a drainage system, and install streetlights within 733 days at a cost of USD17 million.
Moreover, MTCC is tasked with reclaiming seven hectares of land in Mahibadhoo within 240 days at a cost of USD2.8 million. The state-owned company will also reclaim 15 hectares in Maaenboodhoo within 300 days at a cost of USD5.4 million and 15 hectares in Maavah within 240 days at a cost of USD2.3 million.
Additionally, MTCC will establish shore protection structures in Ukulhas within 180 days at a cost of USD1.8 million. The project includes the construction of a 650m breakwater and a 90m groyne.
