Lucky draw held for 400 land plots to be allocated in Gan

Gan Island Council has stated that a lucky draw has been held to issue 400 land plots allocated for residential purposes in Gan, Laamu Atoll.

Land from three zones in Gan was assigned, with 4,000sqft earmarked for residential use.

President of Gan Island Council Ahmed Zaki noted that the prior council allocated 2,000 sqft of land, but public discontent has intensified due to the limited allocation. As such, he explained that the land was reassigned by revising the island land use plan to a 4,000sqft allocation. He also emphasised that a considerable number of island residents still require land, and there is available land for allocation. As a result, he stated that the remaining land will be designated in due course.

Gan is one of the most populous islands in the Maldives. The registered population of Gan is more than 4,800 people.
