Ministry of Health has contracted two companies for the development of hospitals in four islands.
The companies were awarded the development of new hospitals in Thulusdhoo in Kaafu Atoll, Velidhoo in Noonu Atoll, and Milandhoo and Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll.
As such, Anand Buildtech Private Limited has been awarded the contract to develop 30-bed hospitals in Thulusdhoo, Milandhoo and Velidhoo.The company has been awarded the contract in May for the construction of the three hospitals within 1.5 years. The development of these hospitals will also be carried under the assistance of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development
Moreover, Citramas Heavy Industries in JV with Flexinc Private Limited has been awarded the contract to develop the hospital in Funadhoo. The work was awarded to the company in July last year for more than 8.8 million and will be completed within 1.5 years.
The hospital development projects are carried out as part of the government’s policy to strengthen healthcare services in the atolls. In addition to the hospital development projects in these four islands, the government is also developing tertiary hospitals in five regions across the country. The government has completed more than 20 projects to improve the quality of regional hospitals and upgrade health centres in all across the country.
