Ministry of Higher Education has opened the opportunity to apply for the September intake at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre in Alifushi, Raa Atoll.
The higher education ministry has decided to begin 10 courses at the centre in September. The centre will provide courses in fibreglass boat building, office management and administration, as well as Information Communication and Technology (ICT) courses ranging from level 3 to advanced and diploma levels. Notably, these courses are offered online and the government is extending free support. Interested Individuals can submit their applications for these courses before August 20.
Additionally, the ministry has disclosed its plans to introduce a range of courses such as electrical and electronics engineering, marine mechanics, automotive repair, welding, air conditioning and refrigeration, and tourism. These courses are set to be launched this year. The ministry also plans to organise a career guidance open day in August, which aims to furnish comprehensive details about all the available courses, as well as information on student loan schemes and scholarships being provided.
The TVET Centre in Alifushi is part of the Strategic Action Plan (SAP) of the government to develop higher education and training institutes in different parts of the country. The government is working to expand higher education and training opportunities in different parts of the country and to expand vocational education in the atolls.
