MWSC completes Feevah water supply system project

Male' Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) has successfully completed testing and commissioning of the water supply project in Feevah, Shaviyani Atoll.

The water supply project in Feevah was contracted to MWSC in December 2021 at a cost of USD3 million. Following the completion of the project, a team from the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Fenaka Corporation Limited, and MWSC visited Feevah to inspect the water supply system and conduct the necessary tests.

As part of the project, MWSC built a 9km water supply network, reverse osmosis (RO) facility, water collection tanks, and boreholes. In addition, 200 households have been connected to the network. MWSC has also donated equipment for water analysis to the island.

Ensuring a clean water supply stands as a fundamental service for the residents of Feevah. MWSC emphasised that an evaluation conducted in 2009 had shown that 80% of the water utilised by the residents was contaminated. Over the years, the residents have been devoid of a secure drinking water system.
