Doctor's specialisation scholarships awarded to seven recipients

Ministry of Higher Education has awarded the Medical Doctors Specialisation Scholarships to seven recipients.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan noted that the government has previously implemented special scholarship schemes for health workers to pursue further education in relevant fields. He said the scholarships are expected to develop specialised medical doctors and enhance services at hospitals and health centres across the country.

Also at the ceremony, Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem highlighted the importance of collaborating with the ministries to open such scholarship opportunities for the health sector. He expressed confidence that the recipients of the scholarships will provide excellent health services to the public when they return.

The higher education ministry opened the scholarship opportunity for doctors to in seven fields. They include Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Spine Surgery, Pediatric Pulmonology, Gynecology, General Surgery, and Pediatrics. The countries offered in these courses include Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Pakistan. The courses are open to Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) holders, and those applying for Pediatric Pulmonology with a specialty in Pediatrics. All expenses incurred in the scholarships will be covered by the government of the Maldives.
