The provisional list of land plot recipients in Addu City has been opened for complaints.
The opportunity to submit complaints regarding the provisional list will be open until August 27. The complaint form can be obtained at the council offices and website.
Addu City Council has decided to provide land plots to all eligible applicants. The council is currently working to verify the accuracy of the information provided in the forms submitted by the eligible applicants on the provisional list before the final list is announced.
Mayor of Addu City Ali Nizar said that the land use plan will be announced this month to provide more land plots in addition to the 1,000 plots allocated in the first phase. He assured that the council will soon start the process of allocating the plots.
Addu City Council opened applications for 100 land plots in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, 350 plots in Feydhoo, and 300-400 plots in Hithadhoo. The plots are designated from vacant land on the islands. Of these, 90% of the plots will be allocated to the residents of the island and 10% of the plots will be allocated to residents of other islands.
It has been over 20 years since land plots have been given out in Addu, the second-largest city in the Maldives. There are many residents who are in need of their own land to build houses.
