HDC allows 10-storey buildings on public land in Hulhumale'

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has updated its regulations to allow the construction of 10-storey buildings on all publicly allocated land for housing in Hulhumale'.

HDC initially limited public residential buildings in Hulhumale' to seven floors with terraces. However, recent changes in regulations now permit buildings to reach up to 10 floors or 31m on residential plots. Additionally, HDC has revised the rules regarding terrace usage, allowing half of the terrace to serve as shelter, excluding the basement. Buildings exceeding 15m must include elevators, with the elevator machinery room positioned up to four meters above the terrace.

Under the new regulations, HDC also requires parking spaces to be assigned based on the number of apartments in the building. For every two-bedroom apartment, a minimum of two motorcycle parking spaces must be designated, while one motorcycle parking space is needed for each one-bedroom apartment.

The modification in the maximum building height for land designated for public housing aligns with the ongoing process of allocating land in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu, and Giraavaru Falhu.
