MTCC contracted development projects in four islands

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the reclamation of land on two islands, the development of a quay wall and breakwater repair on one island, and the development of a harbour on one island. The agreements were signed by the Director General of the Planning Ministry Fatimath Shana Farooq and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa.

The four projects awarded to MTCC include land reclamation in Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Kinbidhoo in Thaa Atoll, the development of the quay wall and breakwater repair in Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll, and the development of the harbour in Raiymandhoo in Meemu Atoll.

Under the project for the land reclamation in Funadhoo, 25 hectares of land will be reclaimed in addition to the construction of a 1,185m drainage bioswale, and 35,400cbm boat beaching dredging. The project has been awarded to MTCC with a completion date of 360 days at a cost of USD9 million.

The project in Kinbidhoo includes the reclamation of 25 hectares of land, dredging of 306,162cbm, and 1,528m drainage bioswale. The total cost of the project is USD9.6 million and MTCC has been given 340 days to complete the project.

The project for the development quay wall and breakwater repair in Thulhaadhoo includes a 551.91m quay wall repair, a 311m harbor breakwater, a 157m channel breakwater, and a 15m submerged breakwater. The project also includes the construction of a jetty, apron, as well as an access platform. The total cost of the project is USD1.4 million and MTCC has been given 270 days to complete the project.

The project for the development of the harbour in Raiymandhoo includes 43,875cbm harbour basin dredging, 6,372cbm channel dredging, construction of 311m revetment, 100m groynes, 100m breakwater, 254m quay wall. The project also includes the installation of 1,230sqm pavement, ramp, mooring buoys, and harbor lights. The total cost of the project is USD4.5 million and MTCC has been given 480 days to complete the project.
