MQA tasked with quality control of qualifications: Gov't

Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has highlighted the importance of initiatives aimed at maintaining the quality of qualifications in order to prevent the acquisition of invalid credentials. He made the remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Qualification Recognition conference organised by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).

The conference was attended by officials from MQA, the Ministry of Higher Education, various educational institutions, colleges, and relevant international organisations. The event discussed a wide range of issues related to quality assurance and invalid certificates.

Speaking at the conference, Minister Hassan commended MQA for its responsible role in society. He noted that there remain areas that require enhancement in consultation with pertinent authorities. He further remarked that the conference yielded valuable insights and actionable solutions.

Meanwhile, Director General MQA Mariyam Fizana Rasheed noted the interconnectedness of the work conducted by MQA with the future of higher education students. She highlighted that the ongoing reinforcement of the quality control system is integral to its mission.

The conference marks the inaugural event in the Maldives focused on qualification authority. Its primary objectives included evaluating education quality, appraising course delivery standards, exploring international practices, and deliberating on strategies to enhance the education system within the Maldives.
