President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated newly completed infrastructure on Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo, and Dhanbindhoo in Laamu Atoll. The projects included water supply networks on all three islands and an upgraded harbour in Isdhoo. These inaugurations were part of his ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and services for residents of the atoll.
The harbour upgrading project on Isdhoo was completed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). As part of the harbour upgrade project, the harbour basin and channel were dredged, a 160m seawall was established, a 48m quay wall was developed, a 98m revetment was constructed, and other port-related works were carried out. These improvements are expected to enhance the functionality and safety of the harbour for residents and visitors.
S.M.C. Infrastructure Private Limited constructed the water supply networks on Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo, while S.A.S. E. Construction Private Limited constructed the water supply networks on Dhanbindhoo as part of the administration's initiative to develop such networks on all inhabited islands. This initiative aims to significantly improve the quality of life for local communities by providing access to clean and reliable water sources.
