Construction of Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre begins

The construction of the Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre has begun.

The fieldwork was officially inaugurated at a special ceremony by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali, Parliamentarian Abdulla Waheed, and President of Dhidhdhoo Island Council Moosa Shafeeq.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs contracted Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Private Limited to build the Islamic Centre in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll. The project was awarded to RCC to be completed within 540 days at a cost of USD3.2 million.

Under the project, RCC is contracted to build an Islamic Centre with a capacity of 1,500 worshippers, a prayer area, and a multipurpose hall for 450 worshippers. In addition, the centre will have an administrative office, a library, four classrooms, two seminar rooms and a pantry. The centre will also consist of air-conditioning and will use renewable energy to reduce electricity consumption.
