MTCC to construct harbours and shore protection in three islands

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to complete the developmental projects in three islands. The agreements were signed by the Director General at the Planning Ministry Fathimath Shana Farooq and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim.

As per the agreements, MTCC is contracted to upgrade the harbour in Nolhivaranfaru in Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Dhangethi in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll and construct shore protection structures in Kamadhoo, Baa Atoll. MTCC is tasked with has been tasked with upgrading the harbour in Dhangethi within 450 days at a cost of USD4.9 million. The scope of the project includes the reclamation of 3.3 hectares of land for the industrial zone, as well as harbour and channel dredging operations. The project also includes the construction of a pavement adjacent to the harbour.

Additionally, MTCC will also be upgrading the harbour in Nolhivaranfaru within 180 days at a cost of USD369,600. The scope of the project includes the deepening of the harbour channel with the removal of stones. The state-owned company will be developing shore protection structures in Kamadhoo within 180 days at a cost of USD1.5 million.
