Civil Service Commission (CSC) has formulated a policy to allow teachers who achieved degrees to immediately be promoted to Public Service Rank 7 instead of having to wait two years.
The previous policy required teachers to gain two years of experience after receiving a diploma or degree to be promoted to Rank 7. However, CSC stated that teachers with Rank 5 will now be promoted to Rank 7 upon receiving their degree without having to gain two years of experience. The promotion will also come with a salary increase and the Ministry of Education has highlighted the importance of teachers achieving at least a Bachelor's degree.
CSC has informed the education ministry and schools of the policy change and requested schools to submit changes to their staffing requirements in accordance with the new standard. Once approved, the schools are required to keep the commission informed on the creation of any new posts. The commission has also instructed the ministry to work with the schools on changing the position of teachers once the new posts are created.
