Gov't to expand community-based tourism in Thulusdhoo

The Ministry of Tourism has signed an agreement with Thulusdhoo Island Council to provide technical assistance to expand community-based tourism in Thulusdhoo, Kaafu Atoll. The agreement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Tourism Ministry Fathimath Nilfa and the President of the Thulusdhoo Island Council Aslam Moosa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Director General of the Tourism Ministry Ali Shinan expressed that the agreement would offer essential technical support to Thulusdhoo, aiding in the expansion of community-based tourism on the island. He also stated that the ministry would assist the council with tourism promotion and development upon request.

Meanwhile, Aslam Moosa expressed his gratitude to the tourism ministry for its commitment to the agreement. He highlighted the transformative potential of the agreement for the future of Thulusdhoo, highlighting that significant progress has already been made with the designation of tourism zones on the island and the approval of the land use plan.

Thulusdhoo is currently making significant strides in the development of local tourism on a considerable scale, with a growing number of individuals venturing into tourism-related businesses on the island.
