Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has opened applications for the rowhouses currently under construction in Dhihdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, and in Villingili, Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The government has announced that the opportunity to apply for these rowhouses on both islands will remain open until October 7. To facilitate the application procedure and eliminate the need to wait in queues, the planning ministry has introduced the Gedhoruveriya Portal, a platform where individuals can log in and complete the application form.
In Dhihdhoo, a total of 75 rowhouses are designated for development, with 72 allocated for island residents and two set aside for applicants from other islands interested in housing within Dhihdhoo. Meanwhile, the 50 rowhouses in Villingili are exclusively reserved for the island residents.
These housing projects fall under the Gedhoruveriya Housing Scheme, with contracts awarded to respective contractors in 2022. The contract for the project in Dhihdhoo was handed over to SJ Construction Private Limited at a price of USD7.8 million on August. The project to develop houses in Villingili was contracted to Donbez Private Limited at a price of USD3.1 million on June. Each rowhouse in both islands is being developed in an area of 700sqft. Each rowhouse occupies a 700sqft area and boasts two stories, featuring three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a sitting room, kitchen, and a living room.
The government has also published guidelines for the allocation of rowhouses in Dhihdhoo and Villingili, and the application form can also be accessed through the portal.
