Housing Development Corporation Limited (HDC) has stated that recipients of the land plots in Hulhumale' under the Binveriya scheme are allowed to construct 10-storey buildings.
HDC has released the policy on the construction of buildings on the land plots in Hulhumale' Phase II given to residents of Male' under the Binveriya scheme. It states that the building should have a maximum height of 18.5m and can only have six floors.
However, HDC stated that changes will be made to the policy to allow landowners to construct 10-storey buildings, adding that the policy was formulated and published quickly to allow landowners to get their permits, have their designs approved, and start construction quickly. The policy also states that buildings with more than five floors need to have elevators. The outer wall needs to have a maximum height of 1.2m with a regulated setback. The building should also have space for waste storage.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure began handing over land plots in the Greater Male' Region in August. The government is providing over 9,000 land plots to residents of Male' under the Binveriya housing scheme. The plots are being allocated from Hulhumale' Phase II and by reclaiming Gulhi Falhu and Giraavaru Falhu. A total of 19,639 individuals have been deemed eligible in the final list for the Binveriyaa scheme. The ministry plans to give out around 5,400 land plots from Giraavaru Falhu, 2,200 from Gulhi Falhu, and 1,300 from Hulhumale' Phase II.
