Principals working away from residential island to receive USD454

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to introduce a housing allowance amounting to USD454 to principals working away from their residential island.

Speaking at a campaign event in Male' City, President Solih highlighted his administration's work to develop the education sector, including building infrastructure such as more classrooms in the atolls. Additionally, President Solih said that training high-performing principals is a key part of his strategy. He also provided a solution to the concerns of principals over having to move to another island for work and paying rent, by announcing his decision to provide a housing allowance amounting to USD454.

The Ministry of Education has provided the relevant information regarding the policy on providing housing allowance to principals who meet the criteria. As such, principals who were working away from their residential island previously received an accommodation allowance, which was revoked with the implementation of the new pay framework in May.
