Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that individuals eligible for flats under the government's Gedhoruveriya housing scheme have been notified through the Gedhoriverin Portal. The ministry has granted ineligible candidates a seven-day time period to submit further complaints, which can also be made through the portal.
The government initially made available 4,000 flats under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme, with a total of 20,697 individuals applying for these flats. Of these applicants, 14,489 applied for three-bedroom apartments, and 6,208 applied for two-bedroom apartments. The provisional list of flat recipients was released on August 8, with over 15,000 individuals initially deemed eligible. However, the ministry acknowledged that the list may be subject to change based on submitted complaints.
Furthermore, the planning ministry also stated that individuals wishing to vacate Sinamale’ flats and other flats allocated by the previous government can apply for flats and land plots allocated under the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes.
Minister of State for the planning ministry Akram Kamaluddin announced that residents of Sinamale’ flats would have the opportunity to apply for flats under the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes if they agree to vacate their current flats. He said the opportunity extends to residents of previously allocated one-bedroom flats and flats allocated by companies.
The government has opened applications for flats and land plots under the second phase of the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes, aiming to allocate 4,000 land plots and 6,000 flats in the Greater Male' Region.
