MPL to hold Port Open Day for students

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has decided to organise a Port Open Day, aiming to attract students to explore opportunities in the realm of port services.

The event serves as a programme to explain port management and foster enthusiasm among individuals aspiring to become professionals in the field. The event will include a guided tour of the Male' Commercial Harbour, a security drill to showcase safety and security protocols, and firsthand exposure to the operational facilities within a port. Interactive demonstrations will also be conducted to explain the educational pathways available within the field of port services.

The Port Open Day is scheduled for October 14. It will be conducted in two sessions, with the morning session from 0830-1245hrs and the afternoon session from 1200-1615hrs. Each session accommodates a total of 80 students, and participation is open to both male and female students aged between 13-18. Registration is currently open and interested students can access the registration form by scanning the QR code featured on MPL social media posters.

MPL has announced that three students selected through a lucky draw from participants, will receive a laptop as a token of appreciation. MPL underscores the significance of attracting more talent to address the gap in recognising the shortage of professionals in various sectors within the port sector. MPL has conducted various training programmes in the past, aimed at preparing skilled individuals for the demands of the port sector.
