Over 2,000 beds allocated for tourism this year

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed an additional 2,723 beds have been added to the industry this year.

The total number of beds in operation across the Maldives stood at 59,625 by the end of last year, according to the latest statistics published by the tourism ministry. The number has now risen to 62,348 beds, which is an increase of 2,723 beds. The statistics also show that a total of 42,159 beds are in operation across 172 resorts, while 15,068 beds are in operation across 918 guesthouses, and 1,940 beds are in operation across 14 hotels

The number of beds in the Maldives has increased while the number of tourist arrivals is also increasing. Statistics show that over 1.4 million tourists visited the Maldives so far this year which is an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period last year. The government aims to attract a record 1.8 million tourists by the end of 2023.
