Over 600 applicants to be given land from Uthuru Thila Falhu

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that 684 eligible applicants that initially did not receive land plots in the first round of the Binveriya housing scheme will be granted land plots from Giraavaru Uthuru Falhu.

Eligible applicants will be given land plots during the second phase of the Binveriya scheme, according to the planning ministry. The final list of land plot recipients comprises 19,639 individuals, out of which 18,955 will receive land plots before the current term concludes. A total of 684 individuals from the list will not be allocated land plots during the term. However, the ministry has reassured that they will receive land in the upcoming government housing initiatives.

The 684 individuals did not meet the specified criteria as they were unmarried and had no children aged between 18-25. As such, the ministry stated that the individuals will be granted land plots from the reclaimed area in Giraavaru Uthuru Falhu for residential development during the second phase of the Binveriya housing scheme.

The ministry has clarified that the list of individuals is already finalised and the applicants do not need to submit a separate application to apply for land plots. However, individuals who want to apply jointly with other applicants for the second phase can choose to withdraw their previous application and reapply. The ministry has urged such individuals to request the cancellation of their previous forms via email.

The administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih initiated the first phase of the Binveriya housing scheme, marking the first time in 30 years that land plots were made available to residents of Male'. The government is providing over 9,000 land plots to residents of Male' under the scheme and began handing over land plots in the Greater Male' Region in August. More than 19,000 residents, including joint applicants, have received land under the scheme.

The ministry is currently accepting applications for the second phase of the Binveriya and Gedhoruveriya housing schemes. The second phase aims to offer 4,000 land plots and 6,000 flats in the Greater Male' Region.
