Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art fuel farm at Maafaru International Airport.
The fuel farm was inaugurated by the Managing Director at IASL Mohamed Mihad and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) Mufaddal Idris Khumri at a ceremony held at the airport. The project was funded by MIB.
IASL stated that the facility boasts an impressive storage capacity of 400,000 litres and is equipped with a 35,000-litre fuel bowser alongside a 20,000-litre fuel bowser. IASL underscores that the fuel farm is designed to offer conveniences to private jets using the airport's facilities, as the airport is a major hub for jet landings.
IASL, which manages Maafaru International Airport, is making efforts to improve and expand the quality of services provided at the airport. The airport has been handling international flights since July 2020 and has a runway for large aircraft like Airbus A380 and Boeing 737. It ranks second in runway size after Velana International Airport (VIA) and Gan International Airport (GIA). The runway is currently being expanded by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), aiming to enhance the airport's capabilities.
