The Ministry of Education has decided to allocate the old building of the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to Aminiya School.

Aminiya School is slated for conversion into a single-session facility in line with the policy of transitioning schools to single-session classrooms, according to the education ministry. The commencement of the second semester in January of the upcoming academic year will coincide with the transformation of Aminiya School into a single-session facility. The ministry has affirmed that the building previously occupied by CHSC will be handed over to Aminiya School for the purpose, and necessary repairs will be conducted after the handover.

Speaking to PSM News, Principal of Aminiya School Naazlen Wafir highlighted the ministry's response to the request for the building after CHSC relocated to Hulhumale'. She also mentioned the need for an additional 37 classrooms to facilitate the transition to a single-session facility.

As part of the policy of the administration to convert schools to single-session classrooms, four schools in the Greater Male' Region are currently included in the policy. These schools are Dharumavantha School, Izzuddin School, Salahuddin School in Hulhumale’ Phase II, and Muhyiddin School in Villingili.

Aminiya School, initially established as a girls-only institution in 1944, has evolved over the years. The school has been coeducational since 2010. With a student population exceeding 2,000, the school underwent infrastructure changes in 2018, replacing old classrooms with an eight-story building. The school has operated in double-session classrooms until now.
