Budget includes expenses for extra elevators at Hiyaa towers

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the state budget for next year will include the addition of two extra elevators in each tower of the Hiyaa flats developed in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

Speaking at a gathering in the Hiyaa flats area in Hulhumale', President-elect Muizzu expressed how he had to incorporate the pledges of the new administration into next year's budget. As such, he highlighted the inclusion of two additional elevators in all 16 towers of the Hiyaa flats. He further detailed that one elevator would be designed to accommodate stretchers, while the other would have a capacity for 14 individuals.

The construction of the 25-storey Hiyaa towers took place under the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom. Concerns were raised about the inadequacy of the existing lifts in comparison to the number of residents following the occupancy of the towers.

Therefore, President-elect Muizzu made a commitment to install more elevators in the towers during his presidential election campaign. He was also accompanied by Vice President-elect Mohamed Latheef during his visit to the Hiyaa flats area.
