Three new airlines to begin winter flights to Maldives

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced the addition of three new airlines commencing flights to the Maldives for the upcoming winter season.

MACL stated that Virgin Atlantic Airways, Cyprus Airways, and BeOnd Airlines are set to commence flights to the Maldives. Both Virgin Atlantic and Cyprus Airways plan to operate special flights to the Maldives during the winter season. The first flight operations will be by BeOnd Airlines, recognised as the world’s first premium leisure airline, which is a collaboration between Maldives-based SIMDI Company Private Limited and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based investment firm Arabesque. As such, BeOnd Airlines is set to initiate flights on November 9, starting with a route to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic Airlines is scheduled to launch flights from London Heathrow Airport to Velana International Airport (VIA) starting on October 30. The airline intends to operate flights three times a week to the Maldives. Cyprus Airways is slated to begin operations on November 26, providing flights connecting Cyprus to the Maldives. In addition, several other airlines that traditionally operate flights to the Maldives during the winter season are expected to continue their services.

MACL reports that a total of 41 airlines are anticipated to operate flights to the Maldives during the winter season with the inclusion of the three new airlines.
