ACC asks to recover USD1 million for Fenaka cases

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked for the recovery of over USD1 million as part of the investigation of 75 corruption cases linked to Fenaka Corporation Limited.

In an official statement, ACC revealed that the investigation involves cases of influence of positional power by the company's management, allegations of illicit appointments, breaches of procurement regulations, and claims of fund disbursement contrary to established company policies.

ACC has confirmed that it looked into several cases among the 75 under investigation, leading to a directive for the recovery of USD1.3 million. However, the commission has not disclosed the specific amount that has been received to date.

ACC issued 92 directives to Fenaka for corrective measures. The directives include 48 matters concerning the company's conduct, 24 matters related to its policies, six matters addressing the recovery of funds lost due to corrupt practices, and an additional six issues necessitating further internal investigations by the company.

ACC has also compiled a report highlighting the potential for corruption in the operation within Fenaka, proposing measures to mitigate such practices, and outlining the challenges encountered during the corruption investigation process.
