Chief Justice urges unbiased justice for all judges

The Chief Justice of the Maldives Ahmed Muthasim Adnan has urged all judges in the country to administer justice without discrimination. He made the remarks during the inauguration ceremony of the new magistrate court building in Himandhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Justice Muthasim highlighted the diligent efforts of the country's judges in delivering justice. He asserted that judges base their decisions not on personal opinions but rather strive to rule impartially, adhering to the principles outlined in the Constitution.

In attendance at the ceremony was Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna from the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA). She expressed her optimism that the newly inaugurated building would enhance access to justice.

The construction of the new court building for the Himandhoo Magistrate Court was awarded to Regional Builders Private Limited on June 22, 2022. The previous building operated in a limited space, comprising two rooms, a small living area, and a bathroom. As such, the newly constructed building is equipped with the necessary space and facilities to conduct trials as mandated by law, according to DJA. In addition, it features designated areas for archiving judicial documents, a reception area, and a waiting area, all geared toward improving public service.
