Maldives must advocate for well-being of Palestine: Gov't

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has asserted that it is the duty of the Maldives to actively advocate and offer prayers for the well-being of Palestinians in Gaza. He made the remarks while speaking at the Palestine Forum organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Fuvahmulah City Council.

Speaking at the forum, Minister Zahir conveyed that the pain and challenges faced by Palestinian citizens should transcend national borders, rather, the entire Islamic community should empathise with their suffering. He declared that the ongoing attacks on civilians are deeply woven into the collective identity of the Maldives. In addition, he expressed that the ongoing assaults on civilians are ingrained in the blood and heart of Maldivians and the pain will persist until Palestine is liberated. He highlighted the unpredictable nature of the situation, cautioning that there is no assurance of safety for Palestinian citizens, even within the confines of their homes.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Islamic Affairs Mohamed Aneel delved into the ways Israel exerts control globally, drawing parallels from the Holy Quran to illustrate the cruelty, deceit, and corruption associated with Israel. He also stressed the imperative for the Maldives to educate the current generation about the significance of the conflict in Palestine.

Principal of Zikura College Ibrahim Shameem also delivered a comprehensive historical overview of Palestine, highlighting the importance of imparting knowledge to the youth. He underscored the need for educational efforts to ensure an understanding of the conflict in Palestine among the upcoming generation.
