Ministry of Tourism has revealed that tourist arrivals have increased by 13.1% as of October compared to the same period last year.
The latest statistics from the tourism ministry show that 1.52 million tourists visited the Maldives as of October, which is an increase of 13.1% compared to the 1.34 million tourists in the same period in 2022. The statistics also show that more than 150,000 tourists visited the Maldives in October, which is a 3.5% increase compared to the same month last year.
The statistics show that the total number of arrivals in January was 172,499 tourists, 177,915 in February, 173,514 in March, 164,357 in April, 120,959 in May, 120,363 in June, 45,620 in July, 154,854 in August, 130,967 in September, and 159,141 in October.
The statistics also show that the largest number of tourists arrived from Russia with 175,663 arrivals while 164,471 tourists arrived from India and 163,708 arrived from China and 122,614 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom (UK). In addition, a total of 1,271 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 63,688 beds. They include resorts, hotels, guesthouses, and liveaboards.
The Maldives has a daily average of 5,000 tourist arrivals. The government aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists in 2023 and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourists.
