The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed that it recovered a revenue of more than USD15 million owed to the state by various parties in the third quarter of this year.
In the latest quarterly report, MIRA has stated how it has recovered the outstanding amounts, including USD8 million through dunning, USD4 million through dues clearance, USD2 through reminder calls and emails, and USD240,000 through account freezing policy.
The report also showed that a total of 266 individuals have been issued final notices for not paying tax returns during the third quarter and 322 individuals did not pay their taxes. MIRA has provided installment grants to those who do not pay their taxes regularly by granting 46 taxpayers up to USD13 million.
