Shaheem resigns from his role as IOCC President

Former Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has resigned from his role as President of the Islamic Organisation for Cultural and Civilisation (IOCC).

Dr. Shaheem announced his resignation during a ceremony at Avid College, coinciding with the launch of his new book. Sources indicate that he resigned from his position to assume a role in the new government.

Dr. Shaheem has previously held the position of Islamic minister in two administrations from 2012-2018, under former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom. He also served as the chancellor and vice chancellor of the Islamic University of the Maldives and held the role of advisor at IOCC, prior to his presidency of the organisation.

Established in 2021 under Dr. Shaheem's leadership, IOCC focuses on activities aimed at revitalizing and promoting Islamic culture and education in the Maldives.
