Cabinet ministers will achieve results: President-elect

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that his Cabinet will consist of 22 ministers who can achieve results.

Speaking to PSM News, President-elect Muizzu said that he prioritised individuals who will be able to fulfil the pledges in his manifesto when picking his Cabinet ministers. He also said that they will respect the decisions made by the president and will not seek other opinions on the matter.

Additionally, President-elect Muizzu said his team will be an inclusive Cabinet that has the courage to work day and night to meet the expectations of the people. He also said he prioritised forming an educated and capable Cabinet that would be able to fulfil his pledges and establish stability in the country. He further said that his government will have more female representation at the top-level management when taking into account the Cabinet and state-owned companies, adding only experts in the relevant fields will be appointed.

Furthermore, President-elect Muizzu said that he will listen to public opinion and criticism, as well as evaluate the performance of his Cabinet. He highlighted that he formed more ministries to solve the issue of one ministry failing to produce results after being tasked with multiple mandates. He added that the running cost would not increase significantly even if more ministries were added to the Cabinet.

Moreover, President-elect Muizzu said he has full confidence in all the members of his Cabinet and that his government would be free of corruption. He also said that the list of the new Cabinet ministers circulating on social media is mostly accurate. They include former ministers and senior members of the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) and the People's National Congress (PNC).
