President decides to reclaim Maafaru Falhu for residential purposes

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to reclaim Maafaru Falhu near Mahibadhoo, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, for residential purposes.

President Solih made the decision to solve the housing issue affecting the residents of Mahibadhoo, which is one of the most populous islands in the atoll. Mahibadhoo has a land area of 22.3 hectares and consists of a population of over 2,000.

As such, there is currently no available land in Mahibadhoo for residential purposes. The residents and the island council are also concerned that there is no land for industrial and other economic activities.
