FDC to expedite development of flats in Hulhumale'

Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has announced that it would expedite the project to develop 4,000 flats in Hulhumale', allowing tenants to move into some towers in February.

Speaking to PSM News, Hamdhan Shakeel, the new Managing Director, said that FDC is looking closely into its two largest projects, the development of 16 Amaan Udhares towers and 16 Amaan Dhoadhi towers. While work on all the towers is underway, he said the current priority will be to establish basic services in the area and expedite the project.

Additionally, Hamdhan highlighted the issues he noted during his inspection of the project site, including the lack of a proper communication network and the lack of basic services. As such, he said that work will soon begin on establishing a cell tower needed to address the lack of mobile range, and the basic services needed before people start moving into the area. He detailed that the towers would have space on the ground floor for shops, pharmacies and other general services, as well as office space, adding that all essential services would be available within 20 minutes to the towers.

Regarding the claim made by the previous government that four towers would be completed by December, Hamdhan said no tower will be completed by this month but that some of the towers are expected to be completed by February. He said the new administration aims to complete the flats as soon as possible and hand them over to the rightful owners, adding that the fieldwork will continue at a fast pace so that people can begin moving to the area in February.
