Free medical checkups to be made available under Aasandha

The government has announced its decision to facilitate free medical checkups under the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha. Facilitating free medical checkups twice a year for citizens under Aasandha is included in the governments roadmap for the first 14 weeks.

At a press conference, Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul said that various packages for medical checkups will be introduced under Aasandha. He also said that the service will be available at government hospitals starting next week. He added that the packages will be introduced for different age groups and will be expanded during the first two quarters of 2024.

Additionally, Firzul said that fertility treatment services have been made available through Aasandha. He detailed that, after the administrative arrangements are made in the coming days, in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment will be available within a few weeks.

The government has made the decision to offer comprehensive coverage for endometriosis and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) treatments through Aasandha. Providing full coverage for the treatment of these diseases is part of the government's decision to facilitate easier access to fertility treatment and IVF. The government will also be raising public awareness about the health problems faced by women.
