Vice President concludes official visit to Geneva

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has returned to the Maldives after concluding his official visit to participate in the high-level event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Human Rights 75) held in Geneva, Switzerland.

Vice President Latheef attended the opening ceremony panel discussion on human rights at the Human Rights 75 high-level event, where he stressed that equality emphasises the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the inherent dignity of all individuals, leaving no room for partiality. He also attended the Roundtable on the Future of Human Rights, Environment, and Climate of the Human Rights 75 high-level event, reiterating the urgent need for global solidarity to address environmental challenges.

Vice President Latheef also met with dignitaries from other countries and heads of UN agencies on the sidelines of the event. Before travelling to Geneva, he made an official visit to China to attend the China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Development Cooperation organised by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), which was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
