President forgives USD182,000 in parking fines

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has forgiven parking fines totalling USD182,000 issued between September 5 and November 16.

During a press conference, Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul highlighted the accomplishments achieved within the first four weeks of the new administration. He revealed that President Dr. Muizzu had pledged to forgiving parking fines. As such, he said that the President has forgiven fines amounting to USD182,000 from the period between September 5 to November 16.

The previous administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had forgiven parking fines before the government transition. However, fines incurred between September 5 and November 17 had not been forgiven. As such, Firzul said President Dr. Muizzu made the decision to forgive all the parking fines imposed during the period.
