Over 20% of high-level gov't appointees are women

The President's Office has revealed that 22% of the appointees to high-level government positions are women.

At a press conference, Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Firzul Abdulla Khaleel highlighted that the current administration has appointed the most women to high-level government positions. He added that the number will continue to increase.

Additionally, Firzul said that 22% of the appointees to positions such as deputy ministers and higher are women. He noted that the number of women in these positions is significant and about the same as in the previous government.

Furthermore, Firzul said that giving more opportunities for women to hold senior government positions and top-level positions in government-owned companies is a high priority under the new administration's action plan for gender equality. As such, he assured that the administration will continue its efforts to implement policies and initiatives aimed at fostering gender equality.
